Doppelherz® aktiv Coenzyme Q10

Doppelherz® aktiv Coenzyme Q10, also known as “ubiquinone”, is a compound found in practically every single cell of our body, and it plays a decisive role in the production of cellular energy and muscular power. The heart, in particular, relies on a sufficient coenzyme Q10 supply to work properly.

Doppelherz® aktiv Coenzyme Q10 can be synthesised by our body and be taken up from coenzyme Q10-rich food such as meat and fatty fish, and is found in vegetable oils and nuts to a lesser extent. Under certain circumstances, the body’s ability to make coenzyme Q10 decreases, for instance:

• When the body is chronically exposed to pollution
• During prolonged periods of physical or mental strain
• When adhering to an unhealthy way of life; and
• When ageing

A sufficient level of coenzyme Q10 is necessary to respond to the energy demands of the muscles and of the heart; it supports cardiovascular health and contributes to the protection of body cells against oxidative stress.

Hawthorn is well known and commonly used to strengthen the heart and increase exercise tolerance in the elderly. Hawthorn fruit extract contains flavonoids, which show a positive effect on blood vessels. Together with coenzyme Q10, vitamins B1, B6 and B12 may contribute to reducing fatigue by enabling the energy-yielding metabolism to work properly and supply all the muscles, including the heart, with enough power.
